Alexandria Institute of Technology (AIT) is a private institute of higher education founded in 1996 and owned by "Mohamed Ragab Foundation for social Development" which is a non-profit organization registered under No. SR 1075 with the Egyptian Government. |
The motivation behind establishing this private institute is
to fulfill the industry needs in Egypt for engineers well trained
in modern technological fields.
Engineering technology is a relatively new discipline.The programs of study at AIT are designed to meet the growing need created by the technlogical revolution for college-educated problem solvers who can support the engineering process by bridging the gap between the blueprints and the production lines.
The Institute is a co-educational and women are admitted in all departments.The language of instruction is English.The main objective of the Institute is to take part in the education of the Egyptian youth as well as those from other countries,and in the advancement of knowldge.
The undergraduate curricula are well designed to keep up with the latest development in each particular field of study,so that the engineer will be able to make appropriate decisions based on sound engineering academic and technical principles. |
| Undergarduate Programs |
The Alexandria Institute of Technology
comprises four departments, namely:
1- Electronics and Communications Engineering
Department,
2- Computer Engineering Department,
3- Mechatronics Engineering Department,
4- Industrial Engineering Department.
The program of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science
(B.Sc.) in Engineering extends over five academic years.
The Bachelor of Science
programs are offered by all the departments .
The three departments, namely,
The Electronics and Communications Engineering Department, the
Computer Engineering Department and the Mechatronics Engineering
Department have common preparatory and first years and they
branch starting the second year.
The Industrial Engineering
Department is common with the other three departments in the
preparatory year and it branches starting first year.
The academic year is divided into three terms (Fall, Spring,
and Summer).
The fall and spring terms are fifteen weeks each, while the
summer term is only six weeks.
The summer terms in the first four years of study are completely
devoted to practical training in industry whether in Egypt or abroad.
Selected courses by the Institute may be offered in the summer
term in which students can register in not more two courses,
according to the regulations of the Institute Council and without
contradiction with their summer training. |
| Continuing Education Program |
This program links the Institute and the community by offering
courses that aim to serve the needs of commerce, industry
and local business community and by making the range of professional,
technological and managerial expertise within the Institute
more accessible.
Instructors are drawn from the Institute, the business world,
and the professions.
Most continuing education students have
bachelor's degree and may have advanced degrees.
The programs offer multi-course certificates in such fields
as accounting, finance, marketing, management, e-commerce, e-business, electronics,
communication systems, computer software and hardware, information technology and
motorcar electronics.
The programs are designed for persons who want to acquire
a thorough background in a given field. |
| Cultural,Sports,And Recreation Activities |
General lectures on cultural aspects are regularly held.
lectures in arts, environment, humanities, etc. are given by specialists in the field Promotion
of appreciation and activity in these fields is greatly emphasized.
Also, the Institute has access to modern sport centers.
They houses multipurpose gymnasium, swimming pool; basketball,
volleyball, handball, squash, and tennis courts.

The Institute provides assistance in defining students career
objectives based on factual information about the world of
work and an understanding of interests and skills acquired
through education and file experience.
